The Armenian men’s team claimed victory 2.5:1.5 to Azerbaijan in the 8th round of the European Team Chess Championship being held in Batumi, Georgia. Levon Aronyan, Gabriel Sargsyan and Hrant Melkumyan tied their matches while the acting champion of Armenian Arman Pashikyan playing on board 4 won his game with white pieces.
Ahead of the final round, the Armenian men’s team shares the 4-6 places with 11 points. In the final round our team will play against Greece.
Meanwhile, the women’s team played draw with the leader of the tournament Russia. The team shares the 4-5 places with Turkey, scoring 11 points. The women’s team will face Azerbaijan in the final round.
