"States are creating Armed Forces to ensure their territorial integrity, the inviolability of the borders and the security of their citizens. In this context, Sardarapat battle was one of the best manifestations of this truth," Armenia's former president Serzh Sargsyan told reporters in response to comment why he had decided to visit the Sardarapat Memorial on the Army Day.
In Sargsyan's words, his symbolic visit to the memorial of the Battle of Sardarabad which led to the establishment of the First Republic, is a call to the nation, the Armed Forces, officers and servicemen.
In request to comment on Nikol Pashinyan's recent statements regarding the Artsakh peace process, Serzh Sargsyan said: "I will share my reaction in the coming days. I will provide comprehensive and detailed comments," stressed the former president.
To remind, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the formation of Armenia’s Armed Forces, third Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan had visited the Sardarapat Heroic Battle Memorial, from where he sent a message.
Sargsyan paid tribute to Armenian heroes who fell in the Sardarapat Battle by laying a wreath at the Sardarapat Memorial, his office reported.
