Armenian President Armen Sarkissian is obliged to apply to the RA Constitutional Court with a motion to invalidate the request of the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to dismiss the head of the General Staff. On March 6, the head of the RA Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan told reporters.

According to him, the president of the country still has time for such an appeal - until March 9. The fact is, as Zohrabyan noted, according to the current legislation, since February 27, the president has had 5 days to make a decision on the appeal to the Constitutional Court, after which a three-day period begins for the submission of this appeal, which expires on 7 March. However, taking into account the fact that March 7-8 are non-working, the head of state will have only one day - March 9.

Ara Zohrabyan called on the public to put pressure on the president and officials so that they fulfill their powers.

The head of the Chamber of Advocates also pointed out that the President of the country is often silent on the most important issues related to the Constitution and the situation in general. He kept silent when illegally lawmakers of the Parliament, having made amendments to the Basic Law of the country, changed the composition of the judges of the Constitutional Court. "But anyway, the Constitutional Court is the most ideal platform for resolving this situation, "Ara Zohrabyan said, not ruling out that Armen Sarkissian is limited in his actions due to rumors about his British citizenship. "Nobody has seen Armen Sarkissian's passport of the citizen of Armenia. It seems that he showed it to the prime minister during a personal meeting. Meanwhile, citizenship brings with it commitment. Unlike the legislation of Armenia, where the president signs decrees on the appropriation or deprivation of citizenship, UK law provides for the application of a number of conditions, including the time frame for the formal submission of an application for renunciation of citizenship of this country. In a word, if this issue is vulnerable for the president, we will make this issue a subject of public discussion, "said the chairman of the Chamber of Lawyers.

To recall, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia demanded the resignation of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, stating that the political leadership is leading the state to a dangerous brink. In response, the prime minister said about a coup attempt and signed a decision to dismiss the chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan. However, President Armen Sarkissian did not sign this document and with objections sent Pashinyan's decree to the prime minister's office. Meanwhile, the head of government resent the document to the president. As a result, he appealed to the Constitutional Court to determine whether the law "On military service and the status of a serviceman" meets the requirements of the country's Basic Law. The lawyers insist on the appeal on the conformity of the decision of the RA Prime Minister on the dismissal of the Chief of the General Staff from the performance of his duties.
