Analyst: Failing to ensure Syunik’s security, we make security of whole of Armenia vulnerable

Head of the Henaket Analytical Center Tigran Abrahamyan, a former security adviser to the Artakh president, stressed the need to ensure the security of Syunik Province as a guarantor for the security of the whole of Armenia.

“For 30 years, we have failed to convince each other that solders defending the Artsakh borders in fact ensure the security of the whole of Armenia,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.

“Only at first glance does it seem that this is a simple approach for any conscious person. It is not just a matter of the logic of Artsakh-Armenia relations, this is also the case in Syunik today.

“There is no deep understanding that the security of Syunik helps ensure the security of the whole of Armenia and vice versa; failing to ensure the security of Syunik, we make the security of Armenia vulnerable.

“If we fail to fix this and several other simple truths in our mind, we will not have a chance to live in this region,” Abrahamyan said.
