Pashinyan, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Discuss Karabakh, Bilateral Cooperation

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk met today in Yerevan and discussed Armenian-Russian cooperation and the situation in Artsakh.

Pashinyan, according to a statement released by his office, emphasized the role that Russia played in the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno Karabakh, noting that the presence of Russian peacekeeping troops in Karabakh provide a vital security guarantee.

Overchuk reaffirmed Russia’s support for the friendly Armenian people in this difficult period, and that Moscow is interested in continuing programs to further develop Armenian-Russian strategic cooperation.

The two discussed issues related to the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, humanitarian aid to Artsakh, the exchange of war dead and prisoners of war, as well as a wide range of issues on the agenda of Armenian-Russian relations.

They also discussed cooperation between Armenia and Russia in various spheres, including economic, energy, transport infrastructure development, and the fight against the coronavirus.
